His father had dreamed his son would become an international athlete before he was born, and began making ice skates when Kim took up the sport. InjuriesHe sustained a back injury during the 5000m at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. He was also due to compete in the 1500m at the Games, but pulled out in order to be fit for the team pursuit event. (newspost.kr, 15 Feb 2014)
