In December 2013 he launched an appeal after missing out on selection as a reserve for the Canadian squad ahead of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The appeal was unsuccessful and the short track Olympic selection committee reiterated its stance that Francois Hamelin should occupy the spot. "I do not expect anything more. He has served as an ambassador for Clean Air Champions, a Canadian charity that aims to educate the public on the importance of air quality and the environment.
