SOCHI HANGOVER
She has admitted it took her a long time to recover from the disappointment of receiving three disqualifications at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. She also had to deal with receiving threats on social media, many originating from Republic of Korea as she was blamed for causing pile-ups that affected Korean skaters. "After Sochi I spent two years feeling terrified of failing. My racing was more about trying to win medals than trying to win. I don't think I would have continued after Sochi if I hadn't had all the support. I do still get the odd person writing something really horrible, but now I know how to overlook it. It took me longer than I wanted it to, but I got there eventually. It's strange, I probably have my biggest fan base in Korea now. When I went to a test event in Pyeongchang everybody there was shouting for me. It was an amazing feeling." (telegraph.co.uk, 15 Mar 2017)

CYCLING
She considered switching to cycling after the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, but decided she wanted to compete in short track for at least another Olympic cycle. "I'm not saying I would definitely be able to make the grade. Both sports are about strong thighs and calf muscles though. I'm not ready to leave short track yet but I'd consider it in the future." (theguardian.com, 21 Mar 2017; telegraph.co.uk, 22 Mar 2016)
