Other information | TRAINING IN THE NETHERLANDS She has spent time training in the Netherlands with Dutch short track skater and Olympic champion, Suzanne Schulting. Desmet and her brother, Stijn, were first offered the chance to train in the Netherlands in 2018 by Dutch coach, Jeroen Otter. "Of course, we were immediately very enthusiastic. We also moved to Heerenveen, and we were very well received. We had to make great efforts to align ourselves to their level and be able to participate, that's clear. But Jeroen Otter thought we were strong enough to train with the best. From there, you progress very quickly and you can reach the top level." (olympics.com, 15 Feb 2022) |
