Born in The Hague, Netherlands, she was given the opportunity to join the France junior short track team in 2014. She decided to make the move to Font-Romeu soon after, where she became part of the French national setup. "I chose France because learning a new language and a new culture seemed to be more interesting. I feel Dutch but I also feel that a little part of me is French. I speak the language and spend most of my time in France, but in my heart I'm still Dutch. My home is the Netherlands and all my family live there." (moksz.hu, 29 Sep 2017)
