InjuriesShe has been affected bursitis in her hip since 2016. She experienced problems with the injury between July and September in 2020, which was the sixth time it had affected her in four years. She missed the 2020 Dutch National Distance Championships in Heerenveen and decided to managed the injury with injections rather than surgery. "It's a vicious circle. When you get this condition once, the spot becomes weaker and more sensitive, which increases the chance of relapse." (schaatsen.nl, 29 Nov 2020, 20 Oct 2020, 20 Jun 2020)
