Reason for choosing this sport | She followed her two older brothers into speed skating. She initially did short track and long track, but began to focus on the latter after the opening of the Centre de Glaces [Ice Centre] in Quebec City, QC, Canada. "As a junior I didn't really stand out. I did short track and trained in long track, but then when the new oval [Centre de Glaces] was built it just naturally pushed my progression [in long track]." |
Hero / Idol | Canadian speed skater Laurent Dubreuil, who coached her at age seven and later when she was a teenager. (ICI Quebec YouTube channel, 28 Oct 2022) | |
Ambitions | To compete at the Olympic Winter Games. (beaucemedia.ca, 24 Sep 2022) |
When and where did you begin this sport? | She took up the sport at age six in Saint-Etienne-de-Lauzon, QC, Canada. "It was my biggest motivation when I was young, I couldn't wait for school to finish so I could go and have fun on the ice." |
Sporting philosophy / motto | "I was not the best in my sport [growing up], but I worked hard to get to the level I am at. I believe anything is possible in life, and I want to spread that message as it's something that goes beyond sport." (beaucemedia.ca, 24 Sep 2022) |
